Ash Wednesday Liturgy 7PM with Imposition of Ashes

Almighty and everlasting God, you hate nothing you have
made and forgive the sins of all who are penitent: Create and
make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily
lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness,
may obtain of you, the God of all mercy, perfect remission
and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives
and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever
and ever. Amen.

Sunday Worship 10:30am

Since we shared our Epiphany Sunday at Wakefield Congregational Church, our church has not had its greens removed. We will celebrate a second Epiphany Sunday at the little white church on the hill this Sunday, following which those who can stay and help will take down the greens for another year. (There are rumors that there will be poinsettias available.)

This service is Eucharist Rite II.  A family service with a mix of contemporary and traditional music (we do try to make a joyful noise!), using more modern language from the Book of Common Prayer.  Please join us for Coffee Hour after the service.

Christmas Day: No Worship Service

Loving Father, Help us remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the song of the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds,
and worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.

May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake. Amen.

(A Christmas Prayer by Robert Louis Stevenson)

"But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!”

Advent Program: I Witness, Living Inside the Stories of Advent & Christmas
Dec

to Dec 24

Advent Program: I Witness, Living Inside the Stories of Advent & Christmas

The book, I Witness, Living Inside the Stories of Advent & Christmas by Kate Moorehead, will be the text that will be used for a Facebook group during Advent.  The book is available  on Amazon (remember smile.amazon.com!) for $7.00 paperback and $4.99 Kindle.

On Sunday, December 3, Rev. Sue will create a group that will be open to anyone who would like to participate.  She will invite many folks she knows who have been involved in similar activities in the past...but that's just a start!

All are welcome!!  If you do not receive an invitation and would like to participate, please be sure to email Rev. Sue at stjohntb@gmail.com before Sunday, Dec 10.

After a week of having the group open, it will be closed.  This is an effort to have people feel they can share without having the public read it.

Rev. Sue will be the moderator for this group.
