ANNOUNCEMENTS   June 29, 2008

Please note: ANNOUNCEMENTS need to be submitted to the office by 9:30 Wednesday morning to be included in the following Sunday’s bulletin. Thanks!!!

EPISCOSPEAK

Doxology: Words or songs of praise and glory to God. The two most common doxologies in the Episcopal Church are: “For thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory, forever and ever, Amen.”, said at the end of the Lord’s Prayer; and, “Praise God from whom all blessings flow, Praise God all creatures here below, Praise God above ye heavenly host, Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.”, which is usually sung with the congregation standing, following the Offertory Anthem, as the collection money is brought up to the altar.

Requests for Prayers - St. John the Baptist Parishes Order of the Daughters of the King offers daily prayer for those in need. Cards to place people's name for that ministry are located in the pews. Prayer will be offered up for people for a one month period, both during the weekly Eucharistic liturgies, as well as daily by the members of the Daughters of the King. After one month the request will need to be resubmitted for continued placement on the list.

Save those can tab tops!!! In memory of Russell Thompson we are still collecting tab pull tops from soda cans for the Shriners Children's Hospital. Save up your tab tops and bring them in to either the Church Office to Sunday worship. Many thanks!!

The Lambs' Corner: Two comfortable rocking chairs and a variety of soft toys are located in the rear of the church. This area is affectionately called The Lambs' Corner. Parents with fidgeting infants, or young children requiring some fun distractions during the service are encouraged to use this area. Children are full members of the community at St. John's and following our Lord's command we welcome, nurture and love them with open arms. Yet there are times when our children need some special attention so that they may be fully present with us in worship without causing the rest of the congregation to loose focus of the liturgy. The Lamb's Corner is specifically provided for when you have a child in need of some special pastoral care.

People danceing on a puzzle piece.

Don’t forget to pick up your stewardship packet before you leave. They will be available at the picnic after today’s service.
As of June 25th, we have 2% of the puzzle back!

THIS WEEK'S EVENTS

Son World Logo

It’s VBS time!!! The date is July 7th – 11th from 9am – 12 noon at St. John’s. The theme this year is SonWorld Adventure Park! A visit to a theme park is a day of choices. The clickety-clack of a wooden coaster, or the speedy swoosh of tubular steel? The cool tartness of frozen lemonade, or the gooey richness of a giant cinnamon roll? The choices we make in a theme park will determine the kind of day we’ll have. But the big and little choices we make every day will determine what kind of lives we’ll have, our relationships with those around us, and ultimately our relationship with God. And all that begins with our understanding of who is Jesus, and how will we choose to respond to Him?

At SonWorld Adventure Park VBS, your kids will meet various people who encountered Jesus and discover how they responded to Him. At SonWorld Adventure Park, there’s no height requirement, the lines are short and everyone gets a good view of the parade. But hold on to your hats and glasses, because it’s sure to be a life-changing ride!

Please register your children by July 1st. Forms are located in the narthex or you can enroll online at http://www.stjohntb.com.
